Great soap

I have acne prone skin and it’s a bit too early to tell but I think it’s been helping. At any rate, I love the smell and texture it’s very high quality.

Missed the mark (by a long shot)

I’m not sure where they get their phenol (carbolic acid) but it’s either not real phenol or they aren’t using nearly enough to be effective. My 40 year old lifebuoy soap bars have a much, much stronger carbolic smell. This soap is such a disappointment, especially considering their self-promoting claims to be doing it right. Unfortunately, you can’t find real carbolic soap as those Jamaican brands only smell right, but don’t use real phenol, and folks like this charging premium prices for inferior product. Should be one star, but they get two for lather and consistency.

Hello. We use 100% pure Carbolic Acid in our soaps, as indicated on our website. The remaining ingredients are: Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Glycerine, and Lye (used for saponification to create the soap; final product contains no lye). Also indicated on our website.

In contrast Lifebuoy soap contains no Carbolic Acid. Full list of Lifebuoy ingredients: Aqua (Solvent), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (Surfactant), Glycerin (Humectant), Cocamidopropyl Betaine (Surfactant), Sodium Chloride (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Glycol Distearate (Pearlescer), Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Lactic Acid (Skin Conditioning Agent), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), Laureth-4 (Surfactant), Benzyl Salicylate (Fragrance), Hexyl Cinnamal (Fragrance), Benzyl Alcohol (Fragrance), Thymol (Fragrance), Thymol (Fragrance), PPG-6 (Viscosity Controlling Agent), Tetrasodium EDTA (Preservative), Cl 17200 (Colourant).

Sheep fat

I like it. I don't really feel any of the lanolin that is suppose to be in the soap but overall it is not as strong as the pine tar that I have been using.

Favorite Aroma

Love all the soap aromas. But Cedarwood is my favorite.

Love Love Live the jojoba bar soap. You feel clean and don’t get any rashes from using this soap.

Mix & Match 5 bar soaps

Love the option to try different soaps. Tried about everything and narrowing my list of favorites. Great seller with great products. 100% recommended.

Authentic Carbolic Soap - Just Like Years Ago

High quality

Very pleased with this soap. Have had severe itching for a couple of weeks with no known etiology. I remember my mother having me use pine tar soap for this reason. Can't find any in the stores, and others online are not as pure as yours. Love the smell and after 2 showers with it my itching is almost gone! Thank you! for the high quality soap with limited and pure ingredients.
You my made life better because of it. I am a fan.

Probably the best soap you can get but comes with some quirks.

The benefit to skin and hair is unmistakable within a few days of using the soaps.

Some of the quirks:
- It is real pine tar, not a chemical fragrance, so it smells smoky...like real pine tar.
- Lemon grass soap may crack/crumble as the bar wears thin. It has a lot of real lemon grass oil in it.
- Artisan product may have manufacturing errors (incorrect label, packaging defects, etc.) that are rare from high volume manufactured products.
- A prompt response to any issues is likely because the business appears to truly care for the brand and its customers.

Image shows packaging variation within the same order. I reported the issue and a countermeasure was put in place the same day.

Hello Ed. I looked at the pictures you provided. When we seal the soap and shrink wrap it sometimes a hole will form and we had been covering it up with a label thinking it would be sealed. We have been doing this since day 1. You are the first person who has informed us of the issue you encountered. Thank you for letting us know. Starting today we will make sure all soaps are fully wrapped with our shrinkwrap before shipping.

Works well, no fake scents

Nice smell and lather. A bit too expensive though.

Great product

The oatmeal soap cleans well and works as an occasional shampoo. It is a bit expensive, but if you buy ten it is less than $6 per bar which is a reasonable price for their good-sized bars.

There's really no better soap. I use it on hair and body and it made my dandruff disappear. Nothing has worked as well on my dandruff in thirty years of managing dandruff.

Only crib: the soap dissolves really quickly and so you tend to go through it faster than say Grandpa's pine tar soap.

Good Stuff

Helpful for dandruff control.

Excellent product

This is the only liquid tallow soap I have been able to find that doesn’t have additives. All the others have fragrances and/or seed oils added. This shampoo was exactly what I was looking for and works really well. If you’re looking for a pure product, this is it.

Their pine tar soap is the real deal.

I used pine tar soap often when I was a teenager. Now I am older, I decided to try it again. But I could not replicate the same good experience I had when I was younger. I searched online and discovered the Old Whippersnapper's company. Their website and emails educated me on how pine tar soap is made, and the ingredients used. It was eye opening. In my opinion, some other manufactures are really being disingenuous calling their soap pine tar when the actual percentage of pine tar is so low. If you are looking for real pine tar soap, give Old Whippersnapper’s a try. I really like their pine tar soap formulation. I will reorder from them again when my supply runs low.

Best soap in the world, probably

I've long had ezzema on my hands. Only this tallow soap visibly helps. The Pine Tar soap is the best made. I will try them all soon. But the quality is off the charts

Love it!

This stuff helps with my partner's psoriasis on his hands. Will keep buying it.

Liquid Pine Tar Shampoo - 16 Fluid Ounces
Leslie A. (Seattle, WA, US)

The pine tar soap and shampoo are very nice and lather wonderfully! My only wish is that it would be scented more for women, not that I mind terribly smelling manly but a bit less manly would be nice for us female fans! Live the product though! Packaged perfect and arrived quickly! I will be purchasing from Old Whippersnapper again!
