Had been using shave oil from London for last ten years since I couldn't find anything I liked that worked any better. Eagerly looked forward to the Cocoa & Shea Super Slick Liquid Shaving Soap and was not disappointed! Use very little product, shaves great and skin isn't irritated after shaving. Very happy with this product!
I use this soap for myself and my three dogs. I live in a wooded area find that it helps repel ticks. It’s a must in spring, summer and fall in northeastern USA. Thanks!
Love the dogs. We have an all black Czech German Shepherd ourselves. Going on 9 months old now. Strong as a bull and about as stubborn as one too!
Nothing but beef tallow touches this skin from now on. I use tallow in my hair and moisturizer and aftershave. And tallow soap (with an exfoliating hand towel) to scrub off the day. It's very light and silky. I use it to shave, too. So glad to have found this product.
This is my second order and it is a re-order because I was so pleased with the first quart of Pine Tar Shampoo. The product seemed adequately packed and was shipped promptly, but USPS handling was deficient. When I let Len know that only one bottle of three arrived, he graciously and promptly sent two more. Thankfully, these two arrived unscathed.
I am appreciative that eco-minded, ethical producers are still around and I'm happy to support them. Rock on!
I’ve finally found the true essence of carbolic soap with Old Whippersnapper’s Carbolic Soap, and it’s everything I’ve been searching for.
Let’s talk about the scent. This is where the soap truly shines for me. Unlike many other “carbolic” soaps that lean on cresylic acid and the distinct smell of creosote as its signature smell, Old Whippersnapper uses pure Carbolic Acid (Phenol). My nose confirmed this by directly comparing it to the pure phenol scent from a Chloraseptic spray (minus the cherry, of course!).
You get that classic, unmistakable, strong aroma: deeply medicinal, tarry, and smoky but with a prominent leathery quality. It’s less astringent than other formulas, making it uniquely comforting. This isn’t just a faint whiff; it’s a powerful, nostalgic presence that perfectly fills the air, signaling genuine cleanliness.
The performance is equally satisfying. It builds a beautiful, rich lather and, crucially for my sensory needs, it rinses incredibly cleanly. No lingering, weird film or residue is left on my skin, just a feeling of pure cleanliness. Yes, it’s a potent cleanser and can be drying, but that’s a small trade-off easily managed with my unscented moisturizer afterward.
This soap is more than just a product; it’s a direct, sensory link to my great-grandparent's hygienic practices and the “old reliable” hygiene of a simpler time. It’s profoundly comforting and bringing back so many good memories, making it invaluable, especially now. If you’re like me and appreciate authentic, strong, and unique scents with a rich history, you must experience Old Whippersnapper’s Carbolic Soap. It’s the real McCoy.
5/5 Nostalgia in soap form!
Always good stuff and easy to deal with. As long as they keep making it, I’ll keep buying it.
I've tried this soap from eBay years ago and it stayed in my memory because it was so good. Now I've ordered and used almost all of the various types and have to say it's a no brainer. Don't go and buy the $15 soaps from the grocery stores. These are 100x better than those brands with zero negative effects. Thank you!
Lather is extremely smooth and my skin loves it. I usually use this as a conditioner cleaning after hitting my hair with the pine tar bar.
I’m a seasoned girl. The pine tar shampoo highlights my hairs natural color. Paired it with the lavender conditioner for dry hair. Recommending to my sisters. Like they say a little dab will do ya.😊
Mix and match order. Already loved the pine tar and found some new favorites. The only downside is my wife ripped off all the lemongrass bars LOL.
Always a great value and superior quality soap.
Very satisfied with this 20% Pine Tar Soap. Skin & Hair felt refreshed and hydrated.
Smells great also!
I love it. Smells like it should, cleans my hand, great brand. I love how great all of my products from the company are. For once in a long time, I feel like I got exactly what I paid for. First order so far but I’m a long time customer.
I'm relatively new to the world of shaving soaps. I have traditionally used shaving creams that had a bunch of chemicals with long names in them, and decided to go the more "natural" route, and liked the decidedly short list of ingredients in these soaps. I'm getting a lot better shaves, which I honestly didn't expect at first, because the soapy lather dissipates much quicker than the chemical poo-storm shaving creams, but the shave are amazing. And I'm not breaking out at all. I love this stuff!
I would highly recommend buying from the Mix and Match bundles plus the soaps are wonderful to use!
In the initial, few, times I used the soap so far, I’m impressed with the lather and very satisfied with the shave it provides. The real test will be how well it continues to lather as the bar is consumed. (My experience with other shaving soaps has been that many of them start out great, but as they become used, they produce less and less lather. Only time will tell how TalSheaCo holds up.)
